The next meltdown doesn’t have to end in shouting, guilt and regret.
Stay steady. Know exactly what to do.
Respond, don’t react.
The Meltdown OAR™ is the plan you’ll reach for when your child’s meltdown hits and your brain goes blank—so you’re not relying on memory, panic or instinct. Instead, you can respond in ways that help, not escalate.
Create it once (in less than 10 minutes).
Reach for it every time a storm hits (and your brain goes off line).
If you’ve ever thought…
“Why did I react like that?”
“I knew shouting wouldn’t help… so why did I do it anyway?”
“I promised myself I’d stay calm next time.”
“I know better than this.”
“I feel like I’m becoming the parent I never wanted to be.”
You’re not alone.
When your child’s nervous system goes into survival mode…
it’s incredibly easy for yours to follow.
And once that happens…
Everything you know about gentle parenting…
connection…
co-regulation…
and staying calm…
can disappear in seconds.
Not because you’re a bad parent.
Because your brain is trying to keep everyone safe.

My Story
Hi, I’m Laura.
Before becoming a parent coach, I spent almost 20 years working in education, supporting children with additional needs and helping families understand behaviour.
I knew the theory.
I understood nervous systems.
I’d taught it.
Then my own son started having intense meltdowns.
And suddenly…
everything I’d ever learned disappeared.
I’d shout.
I’d threaten.
I’d desperately try to stop the meltdown.
The harder I tried to regain control…
the worse everything became.
Then afterwards…
I’d replay every second.
Wondering if I’d damaged my relationship with him.
Promising myself that next time would be different.
But when the next meltdown came…
my own nervous system took over all over again.
Eventually I realised something.
I didn’t need more knowledge.
I needed something to help me access the knowledge I already had.
So I wrote myself three reminders.
Just three.
I stuck them on post-it notes around the house.
And those little notes changed everything.
Instead of relying on panic… I relied on my plan. I stayed calmer. My son recovered more quickly. And I stopped carrying around so much guilt.
Those three reminders became The Meltdown OAR™. Now they’ve helped hundreds of other parents too.
“A game changer for our family. So simple, but so effective. It gets us both through the meltdowns without me making things worse and then replaying it all in my head.”
— Kaylee

Yes.
The Meltdown OAR™ isn’t another behaviour management strategy.
It’s designed to help you stay regulated so you can respond more effectively whatever is driving your child’s distress.
Probably even more so.
Many parents tell me they already knew the theory.
They just couldn’t remember it when everything escalated.
