Why Your Routines Keep Falling Apart (And What To Do Instead)
A practical workshop for mums of PDA, autistic and ADHD children who are exhausted from trying to make family life work with routines that seem to fall apart every day.
One of my clients just celebrated a meltdown-free bedtime with her PDA, autistic, ADHD son.
Pyjamas on, teeth brushed, ready for a story. No nagging. No yelling (from either of them!).
The week earlier, she’d had five evenings from hell.
She’d read all the books. And everyone was telling her the same thing: be firmer, don’t give in, you need to prepare him for real life.
So she doubled down. She got louder, more controlling, and turned into a person she didn’t recognise.
When she started working with me, we did the complete opposite. We stopped trying to control his behaviour, and started supporting the need it was communicating.
She tried it that night. And the shift works for any routine, not just bedtime. That’s what this workshop is all about.
What’s really going on when routines fall apart
Why your routines keep falling apart
And why ‘being firmer’ so often makes it worse, not better.
The need behind the behaviour
How to stop trying to control the behaviour and start supporting what it’s communicating.
A shift that works for any routine
Bedtime, mornings, getting out of the door. Something you can try straight away.
This workshop is for you if…
- You’re the mum of a PDA, autistic or ADHD child (diagnosed, waiting, or just starting to wonder)
- Mornings, bedtimes or getting out of the door feel like a battle every single day
- You’ve tried the charts, the consequences and being firmer, and the routine still falls apart
- You’re ready to try a different way
The PAUSE Café™
This workshop is one of my Café sessions, and I’m opening the doors so you can see what it’s like inside my online community. Come as you are. You don’t need to have it all together to pull up a chair.
Hi, I’m Laura.
I’m an educator, parent coach and mum to neurodivergent twins, with 19+ years in education, most recently specialising in SEN.
I spent so long trying to change my son’s behaviour. Everything changed when I turned the spotlight round, onto how I was responding. That’s what I’ll share with you in this workshop.
Good to know
Is it really free?
Yes, completely free.
How do I join on the day?
It’s on Zoom. Once you’ve saved your seat, I’ll email you the link.
What if I can’t make it live?
Register anyway. The replay will be available for 72 hours afterwards, so you’ve got the weekend to watch it.
What time is it where I live?
11am to 12pm UK time on Thursday 8 October. If that’s tricky where you are, the replay has you covered.
Your routines don’t need to be perfect.
They just need to work for your child. Come and find out how.
