What If You’re Looking in the Wrong Place?
Why changing the way you approach your child’s behaviour can change what happens next.
Getting dressed. Leaving the house. Turning off a screen. Going to bed.
Something that seemed so small to you, and suddenly it’s a meltdown. Or a shutdown. Or a flat refusal.
You’ve tried being calm. You’ve tried being firm. You’ve tried explaining, giving choices, rewards, consequences, ignoring it, giving them space.
You’ve searched for strategies at two o’clock in the morning, because you desperately wanted to find the thing that would finally make a difference.
And you’re an intelligent, capable person. So why does this feel like the one thing you just can’t figure out?
Maybe the problem isn’t that you don’t know enough. Maybe you’re looking in the wrong place.
A completely different way of looking at your child’s behaviour
Why behaviour is only the output
The meltdown is the bit you can see. What’s happening underneath it, and why only looking at the output keeps you stuck.
What’s happening in you
Why ‘just stay calm’ doesn’t work, and what’s really going on between two nervous systems.
Change the environment, not the child
Why this doesn’t mean no boundaries, plus three questions to ask the next time things start to escalate. And the one question that changes how you see a meltdown: what is my child’s inhaler?
This video is for you if…
- You’re the mum of a PDA, autistic or ADHD child (diagnosed, waiting, or just starting to wonder)
- Everyday moments keep ending in meltdowns, shutdowns or refusal
- You’ve tried calm, firm, rewards and consequences, and you’re exhausted
- You don’t want another list of tricks. You want to understand what’s actually going on
Hi, I’m Laura.
I’m an educator, parent coach and mum to neurodivergent twins, with 19+ years in education, most recently specialising in SEN.
I spent so long trying to change my son’s behaviour. Everything changed when I turned the spotlight round, away from fixing his behaviour, and onto how I was responding.
That’s what I want to show you in this video.
Good to know
Is it really free?
Yes, completely free.
What happens when I sign up?
You’ll go straight to the video, so you can watch it right away. I’ll also email you the link, so you can come back to it whenever you need.
Will you email me?
Yes. As well as the link, I’ll send you a few emails about putting this into practice, and the ways I can help if you’d like more support. Signing up means you’re happy to hear from me by email, even if you’ve unsubscribed before. You can unsubscribe any time.
Don’t just look at what your child is doing.
Look at what’s happening underneath it.
